If there is a popping and a sizzling sound instead, this could mean that the breaker itself could be faulty. You will most likely have to get some breakers replaced as well as a buss bar. Of course, once this has happened, before you get the breakers and the buss bar replaced, you will need to go from room to room until you find the culprit.

- Jun 02, 2010 · It's a 220v plug, so there will be three screws or so holding the base of the plug on. Unplug it from the wall receptacle, open up the plug and you will see immediately what the problem is. Probably will be blackened and burnt looking. That's from the sizzling. There is a possibility the plug itself might need to be replaced. Not a big deal really.
An electrical hum can come out of a circuit breaker if it is overloaded with current and not shutting off as it's meant to. Please contact an electrician to investigate and repair the cause of the buzzing. Remember, a qualified electrician should do any necessary repairs! Crackling/Sizzling (often with an odor)
